Mobility Camp 2025

By Liani Baglietto Castellares

This year, TPS was proud to sponsor Mobility Camp once again, and what an event it was! With strong representation from local authorities, consultancies, advocacy groups, academia, and more, we came together to explore the issues that matter most in our sector.

One of the things I’ve always appreciated about Mobility Camp is the freedom it gives attendees to shape the agenda around what’s most relevant to them. This year, I was especially encouraged to see so many conversations focused on equalities, accessibility, and planning for those not in the room. Being in Wales, where the Well-being of Future Generations Act legally embeds long-term thinking, added a powerful layer to these discussions. We were fortunate to have sessions led by the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, which helped us push our thinking on what truly inclusive planning looks like, not just in theory, but in practice.

At the Transport Planning Society, we’re also challenging ourselves to rethink how we connect with our members and how we represent diverse voices across the sector. My session at the event focused on representation beyond the table, and I’m grateful to the incredibly engaged audience who joined the discussion.

We’re also committed to strengthening our regional engagement and supporting young professionals. Our Wales representative, Orla Lenehan, played a key role in making this event a success. Here’s what she had to say:

What a fantastic day on Monday at Wales’ (and my) first Mobility Camp! I went with two hats on: helping to facilitate a session on behalf of Transport for Wales in the morning and eager to meet fellow TPS members as the TPS Wales rep. It was fantastic to put faces to names and to drum up local interest in TPS also. So much so, that I am organising our first in person social to celebrate Transport Planning Day, inspired by the fantastic social Podaris put on following Mobility Camp – watch this space!

We have also been proud to promote Podaris work engaging with young professionals through the Podaris Shuttle get-togethers. The one in Cardiff was a real success!

Whilst the Mobility Camp is over, at TPS we’re committed to continuing this momentum, championing inclusive planning and strengthening our regional and early-career engagement. For that, we’d love to work with you. Whether it’s ideas, feedback, or interest in getting involved, TPS is here to support and connect our community.
