Hampshire County Council is one of the largest transport authorities in the UK. We spend around £100m on transport infrastructure every year (and this is growing). We developed plans and won funding for Stubbington Bypass, and walking and cycling networks in Whitehill & Bordon, which are now being delivered. We are currently working on plans to redevelop Gosport bus station among many, many other schemes.
Our radical new Local Transport Plan means it’s an exciting time to join our team and make a difference. The plan aims for carbon neutrality, thriving communities, and increased wellbeing for our residents.
Alongside all of this, we trade our services to other authorities and the private sector to generate income and deliver public value for our residents. Demand for this service is growing and we intend to meet these demands.
We’re looking for two Assistant Transport Planners to help us build a new team to review and monitor development related travel plans.
As part of your role, you will help to develop new travel plan guidance and review travel plans submitted by developers against this. You will help monitor their progress and help them to comply with the guidance by sharing best practice, and details of local schemes and initiatives. You will need to be self-motivated and a team player with an eye for detail. You will need to be efficient, organised and able to support good working relationships with staff and external stakeholders.
In return we can offer:
These are just some of the benefits of being a Hampshire County Council employee. For further information about the role or to apply, please visit our website.
