About the Opportunity

Our Transport Planning team is one of the most successful in the UK & Ireland, with a varied client base and strong pipeline of work, alongside supporting further project teams across the globe.

We are looking for an Associate Director to join our Transport Modelling and Data Analysis teams.  In your role, you would help our clients to derive insights from their data and would support the preparation, development and analysis of multi-modal strategic modelling tools covering highway, public transport, active modes as well as new emerging ways of travel such as CAVs and MaaS. You will be working with diverse delivery teams to find solutions to various transport challenges and to prepare appraisals and data reports for a range of projects and clients. 

You will have the support of a line manager and our experts to guide your progress and will have on opportunity to share your skills and knowledge by training and supporting our junior staff. You will also be given the ability to pursue relevant business and technical training to support your career development as well as the freedom to grow your network and develop innovative solutions to chase new opportunities.

 

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Experience in transport modelling/ transport data analysis;
  • Methodical and logical approach to problem solving coupled with attention to detail;
  • Ability to explain complicated concepts clearly and succinctly;
  • Programming language experience (e.g. VBA, SQL, Python, R);
  • Competency in data analysis packages, such as Excel/Access;
  • Experience in development of demand matrices using bid data sources;
  • Experience in working with at least one of strategic transport modelling software packages (e.g. Cube, SATURN, Emme, VISSIM, VISUM, Aimsun);
  • Good technical report writing skills;
  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Desire to collaborate and innovate with many different teams; and
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Ideally, here’s what you’ll also have:

  • Knowledge of choice model estimation packages, e.g. ALOGIT, NLOGIT, BIOGEME;
  • Calibration and validation of variable demand models;
  • Data Visualisation experience (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau);
  • Experience in land use modelling;
  • Wider experience of transport planning; and
  • Use of GIS software.
  • Education/ Qualifications
  • 1st or 2nd class degree in Transport Planning or a numerate subject (e.g. Maths/Engineering/Economics/Physics and/or other relevant degrees);
