We are currently looking for a dynamic Public Realm Engineer to join our Transportation Public Realm team, in the Development and Cities Space business, at Technical Director level. It is an exciting time for the Transportation Public Realm team as it is a growing business and this role offers the opportunity for the successful candidate to be a central figure in the expansion of the team.
An important aspect of the role will be helping to drive the business forward by proactively seeking new opportunities and developing strong relationships with a range of clients. Being a key member of the team, the role requires the candidate to deliver to the highest technical and behavioural standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing and delivering complex projects to a high standard across the disciplines of Public Realm and Traffic Engineering. They will have the ability to deliver scheme designs from the initial concept through the subsequent design stages of preliminary, detailed and construction design. This role will be based in Birmingham but working across London, the South East and Nationally.
Our office is located in the heart of Birmingham. The team has a strong current workload and excellent presence within the marketplace. The team forms part of the wider national Transport Planning & Urban Development business. The overall team has a wide-ranging capability: from site feasibility and masterplanning, through to planning and then detailed design. The multi-disciplinary nature of the business also means that we are able to deliver project teams from disciplines wider than transportation to offer clients a true ‘one stop shop’.
Our Development team is involved in a number of high profile projects with a variety of clients both in the UK and overseas, including Transport for London, Crossrail, Royal Borough of Greenwich, London Boroughs of Merton, Harrow, Hackney, Barking & Dagenham, Croydon, Homes England, Leicester City Council, Leicestershire County Council, National Grid, HS2 and Network Rail. Our current portfolio of works comprises a diverse mix of local, national and international projects.

Reporting to the Practice Lead for City Space, you will provide leadership and technical support into assigned projects ensuring successful delivery of technically challenging Public Realm, Transport, Traffic and Infrastructure schemes. As we operate in such a diverse marketplace, we can safely say that you will gain an experience of working on a wide and varied portfolio of projects which will enhance your skills and test your technical knowledge.
You will work in collaboration with other disciplines and will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of schemes, overseas projects, research projects and innovative, technically challenging work.
