Our Development team is seeking a Transport Planner or a Senior Transport Planner to join the Transportation team in Basingstoke.  The role will include a range of projects from commercial, retail, and residential through to Local Development Framework Representations and providing Expert Witness evidence. Your principal role will be the day to day technical input into a variety of projects as well as project management of some projects depending on your level of experience. You will provide support to a number of senior staff as well as developing your own project management and commercial skills.

A typical week could include:

  • Preparing Transport Statements, Transport Assessments and Travel Plans for a range of development planning projects across the region.
  • Project management of smaller projects and collaborative team working on larger projects.
  • Training, support and mentoring for a large, experienced and well –regarded transport team.
  • Various forms of transport modelling to highlight various scenarios and assumptions.
  • Working in a large multi-disciplinary office with access to a range of people at a similar career stage across a variety of fields.
  • Helping train and mentor the annual intake of new graduates and apprentices into the team.

About You

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Post Graduate work experience as a Transport Planner/Transport engineer in a consulting or local authority environment.  
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related subject, and a Master’s degree in transport would be ideal
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills to be able to liaise with clients and discuss idea’s with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with:
    • Transport Statements, Transport Assessments and Travel Plans;
    • Access strategy work, parking strategies, sustainable transport, S106 agreements, S278 agreements and guidance such as NPPF, DfT Transport Assessment guidelines, Manual for Streets etc;
    • Setting up and running PICADY’s and ARCADYS;
    • An understanding of LINSIG and can carry this modelling out for different scenarios, understand what they are doing and why;
    • The principles of micro-simulation and strategic models/modelling
    • Junction design (priority, roundabout, signals);
