About the Role

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking to recruit a Transport Modeller to join our Transportation team in the South West team, located in either Bristol or Exeter.

Your role will be supporting senior staff in our growing Transport Modelling team. You can expect to be active on a number of projects/client accounts at any given time. These can vary in both scale and nature, making the workload extremely interesting. We operate throughout the South West and nationwide with projects ranging from junction models, microsimulation models through to strategic county wide and regional models.

The South West Transport Team undertakes largely development planning work specialising in providing advice to private sector and local authority clients on access, transportation and infrastructure issues and supporting development proposals through the planning process. It works closely with our Infrastructure Team, Environmental team and our Property team who are also based in our Bristol and Exeter offices.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Task leader on modelling projects; expected to lead small in-house project teams
  • Undertake SATURN modelling
  • Contribute to other aspects of Transport Planning, modelling & economic appraisal
  • Downloading, extracting, manipulating and analysing traffic data
  • Extracting, downloading and presenting other data (e.g. geometry, accidents, bus routes);
  • Calculation recording and checking
  • Deliver to agreed personal targets.
  • Deliver technical inputs to required quality, cost and time.
  • Prepare high quality technical notes.
  • Keep up to date with developments in areas of professional expertise.
  • Actively contribute towards other duties across the Business Unit e.g.: health & safety, quality, training, Client feedback etc.
  • Engage with more senior members of staff to confirm scope of work, timescales and budget expectations. Identify potential for change to agreed delivery outcomes.
  • Resolve problems or issues to support the delivery of projects or design objectives, ensuring that deliverables conform with the project manager’s requirements.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with team members and clients

About You

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Maths, Geography, Civil Engineering or Computer Science Degree         
  • Excel and general microsoft office suite            
  • Experience in at least one of the following modelling packages: SATURN, PARAMICS, VISSIM, VISUM, Junctions 9, Or similar
