Graduate Transport Planner
What you’ll be doing
As a Graduate Transport Planner at WSP you are likely to work with both public and private clients, getting involved with planning applications for development and looking into innovative solutions to transport problems and the impacts that they may have, focussing on the physical constraints and the social behaviours associated with transport. You will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects. Some of our graduates have been working on providing transport planning for a movie-themed entertainment resort in Kent with up to 15 million visitors expected a year.
All in a day’s work
We asked our graduates what it’s like to do their job. On a day to day basis, the life of a graduate at WSP starts off in the morning with cups of tea and responding to any urgent client emails.
Beyond that, anything could happen! You could get involved in report writing, modelling or design calculations in 3D software packages. Your day could also involve visiting site and liaising with contractors, discussing options for concept designs with colleagues, responding to client requests for information or meetings with the team about the scope and progress of projects.
Naturally, there is a lot to learn and you are likely to be guided through complex software packages, team briefings and client updates from the start. There may even be time for cake.
It might also be helpful to know that we have arranged for some of our graduates to attend our assessment centres where they can tell you more about their typical day and what it’s like to be a graduate at WSP.
