Your new role, what's involved?

 

  • Working directly with our clients to achieve their sustainable transport needs whilst reviewing project briefs and preparing robust fee proposals for cost reimbursable design work
  • Preparing reports, drawings, schedules, bills of quantities, cost estimates and other documents in accordance with local procedures and guidance
  • Delegating work packages within the team as well as taking line management responsibilities for staff
  • Reviewing designs/design packages in progress within the team to ensure project objectives are being met and deliverables are in line with client needs and requirements
  • Monitoring monthly financial performance, including monthly financial review process and reporting to one of the team leaders
  • Undertaking technical review and checking of design deliverables within the team
  • Carrying out client liaison including chairing relevant client meetings

Your Team:

Liveable Places work with a wide range of local authority & private clients from across the UK to help them achieve their place making ambitions. We deliver a wide range of schemes from concept to delivery that include public realm, traffic engineering, road safety, traffic signals, pedestrian / traffic modelling, active travel and parking. We have had recent key successes with West Sussex County Council, Hampshire County Council, Westminster City Council, Cambridgeshire County Council, Leeds City Council, West of England Combined Authorities and many, many more.

The Liveable Places team is based in offices across the country with over 200 staff currently making up the team with significant growth planned. We have a strong track record working closely with our clients and this role provides a great opportunity to have a pivotal role within Liveable Places and help support and steer its growth going forward.

 

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

 

  • A civil engineering / transport engineering degree (or equivalent)
  • Corporate membership of a relevant professional body (or working towards achieving)
  • Up to date training in appropriate related subjects
  • Ability to work and liaise with a wide range of professionals
  • The ability to manage resources to deliver work on time and to agreed budgets
  • Experience of managing safety and transportation schemes through the entire project life cycle, and working with contractors
  • The ability to prioritise, to achieve deadlines and to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good spoken and written communication skills. With the ability to liaise with others including public sector officials, members of the public and other senior colleagues
  • The ability to motivate junior staff
  • Good IT Skills
  • Working knowledge of current national and regional guidance/standards with regards to the fields of highway engineering. Knowledge of the DMRB
  • Awareness of up-to-date initiatives/best practice in highways and transportation
  • Demonstrate up to date and relevant knowledge of all aspects of scheme design
  • Relevant knowledge of Project Management
