Transport Planner

Job Description

Basis: Full Time

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary:  £25,553 - £29,097

Closing date: 04 January 2023

Interview date: tbc

We are looking for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly, committed team as a transport planner.

In the role you will provide support with the setting and monitoring of the council's transport strategy and policies, and support the development, implementation and promotion of projects and initiatives that deliver on these. You will also support the council in its role in the provision of a reliable, customer-focused public transport network in the borough, in partnership with bus operators and our delivery partners.

In particular, we are looking for someone who can help us gather and analyse evidence, as well as enthuse, engage and communicate with individual stakeholders and the public more widely.

From studying and/or a previous role, you will have a keen understanding of contemporary issues and practice relating to transport planning, and how transport can act as a catalyst for achieving the borough's environmental, economic, and
social aims.

This is an exciting time to be joining us, as transport and infrastructure will be at the heart of our borough's ambitious plans for sustainable growth helping to deliver new homes and jobs. We have set a target of being a net zero borough by 2050, and we have a challenging trajectory to reduce carbon emissions in the next 10 years.

You will work with colleagues across the council and will be a key part of the Infrastructure, Sustainability and Economic Growth service within the Council's Place Directorate.

If you are interested in this role and wish to have an informal chat about it then please contact Dug Tremellen, Transport Policy Manager by emailing dug.tremellen@rbwm.gov.uk to arrange a time to speak.
