You will be integrated within a range of transport planning, policy, strategy and business case projects and will assist in driving these projects to successful delivery. You will be a key addition to the team, contributing to the continued development of Mott MacDonald’s market presence and the ongoing growth of our transport planning and policy/strategy portfolio in the North-West. You will also contribute to the company’s wider portfolio of UK and international projects. You will be involved in the following role responsibilities:

  • Working as part of our project teams in transport planning, and particularly on policy, strategy and business cases

  • Managing tasks and projects that match your ability, expertise and interest
  • Proposal and report writing
  • Contributing to identifying new client opportunities and business development.

We are interested in what you can offer us, and how we can in turn help you to develop your career and interests. This could cover one or more of the following areas: transport policy, transport strategy, business cases, transport economics, rail and bus planning, or sustainable transport planning. You understand the role of TAG and the Green Book in scheme development, are comfortable in writing reports and are able to follow industry standard processes and get involved in business development activities such as providing inputs to bids and tenders. You will be able to demonstrate some of the following skills, experience and attributes, depending on your interests and work to date:

  • A strong interest in transportation, transport policy and strategy, business cases, placemaking, sustainability and / or social development
  • Degree in a related discipline (or equivalent)
  • The successful candidate will be a member (or working towards membership) of a relevant professional organisation (such as IHT, ILT, TPS or ICE) or ideally looking to achieve chartered status (e.g. TPP)
  • Demonstrable skills in at least some of the following: transport policy and strategy, business cases, transport economics, scheme development and appraisal, or sustainable transport planning
  • Experience of TAG, and other industry standard processes
  • Experience in successful input to bids/tenders
  • Professional, strong communication skills with both clients and colleagues, and good report writing abilities.
