TPS Survey: New Development Travel Plans & Vision-Led Transport Planning

TPS National Survey - Are travel plans delivering real value and what is their role in vision-led transport planning?

Across the UK, travel plans have become a standard requirement of development. But many would acknowledge that, in practice, they can too often slip into ‘tick box’ exercises, disconnected from the wider vision they are meant to support.

The Transport Planning Society is now leading a national survey to take a step back and reassess.

We’re inviting professionals across local authorities and consultancies to contribute to what will be the most comprehensive travel plan survey ever undertaken in the UK. If your work involves specifying, delivering or reviewing travel plans, your insight is essential.

The survey will capture current practice, build a clearer picture of effectiveness, and explore how travel planning can evolve to better align with vision-led development and long-term outcomes.
