Many congratulations to Jamie Smith from Arup who has completed the PDS and can now use the post nominal IncTP (Incorporated Transport Planner). He is the first person from Arup’s Edinburgh office to do so. This is part of the picture of the growing number of PDS completions, across the UK, which achieved double figures for the first time in 2022 reached 13 in 2023 and is on track to exceed this in 2024. The pathway to TPP is also clear, 10 PDS completers have already achieved CTPP. Jamie is about to take up a new position with Falkirk Council.
Jamie said:
“I am really pleased to have completed the PDS. This has been a rewarding process that has helped me grow and become a more rounded transport planner. I would like to thank the Transport Planning Society and my colleagues who have supported me through this process over the last few years. I look forward to applying the skills, knowledge and experience demonstrated through the PDS in my role at Falkirk Council moving forward. I also look forward to using the PDS to support my ultimate goal of achieving CTPP.”
Jamie’s Arup mentor, Mark Bowman said:
“I’m delighted that Jamie has successfully completed his PDS. Following the PDS has given Jamie a clear structure and focus to his early career learning and development, providing him an excellent grounding in all aspects of transport planning. Jamie has been very diligent and focused on his PDS, with a clear aim to achieve this goal and it is well deserved. I look forward to following Jamie’s career progression and to him achieving the TPP in the near future.”
Keith Buchan, TPS Skills Director said:
"Congratulations to Jamie for his achievement, we welcome him to the growing community of transport planners who have completed PDS and can now also use the title Incorporated Transport Planner: IncTP. Arup have participated in the PDS from the beginning in 2008 and have been an active supporter ever since. We look forward to more trainees following Jamie’s excellent example.”
