Enabling Access for All: A Cross-Sector Conversation on Inclusion

Access For All

Yesterday, the Transport Planning Society (TPS), in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT), hosted an engaging evening of conversation and collaboration focused on accessibility and inclusion in transport. Watch here in full!

With the Integrated National Transport Strategy on the horizon, the event brought together professionals from across policy, planning, design, and lived experience to explore some vital questions: How do we move beyond good intentions? And what does it really take to create a transport system that works for everyone?

The evening opened with a compelling keynote from Fern Lulham, a passionate disability awareness advocate known for challenging assumptions and spotlighting the real-world impact of inclusive – or exclusive – systems.

Fern was joined by a panel of experts offering diverse and powerful perspectives:

  • Antoneta Horbury – Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation

  • Michael Barratt MBE – Transport for London

  • Clive Wood – Guide Dogs for the Blind Association

  • Dr Kush Kanodia – Accessibility advocate and member of TfL's Independent Disability Advisory Group

Together, the panel explored the practical challenges and opportunities involved in embedding equity into the way we plan, design, and deliver transport infrastructure.

The event attracted a wide range of attendees – all united by a shared commitment to turning inclusion from aspiration into action.
