The Transport Planning Professional (TPP) qualification, jointly awarded by TPS and CIHT, is the highest level professional qualification that recognises the competence of transport planners. Candidate Reviews are held twice a year, in May and November and the latest results have just been announced. TPS is delighted to congratulate the 9 transport planners who successfully passed their TPP Reviews this May. These professionals represent a wide range of organisations and specialisms, and their success reflects the strength and diversity of the transport planning profession.
They have all demonstrated exceptional knowledge, experience, and commitment to the field of transport planning and are now eligible to be professionally registered as Chartered Transport Planning Professionals (CTPPs).
In this round 3 of the successful candidates, Ellie Copp, Sophie Mackenzie and Jane Overton had recently completed the TPS professional Development Scheme (PDS) which is the ideal launch pad to build up a TPP application. It was created at the same time as TPP and covers exactly the same areas of competence. Thus evidence of transport planning experience for PDS provides valuable content for the TPP. In addition it is the only scheme recognised as meeting the TPP Knowledge requirements and thus completing Stage 1 of the TPP pathway. PDS trainees are supported throughout and have a final review with the same format as TPP and a written report giving key pointers where they should focus in order to meet TPP requirements.

TPS Skills Director, Keith Buchan said:
“It’s great to see the latest additions to the TPP family – they are the evidence of the growing status of our transport planning profession with its increasing number of TPPs and CTPPs. We are particularly pleased to see a third of the successful candidates had first completed the PDS – a great way to start their journey towards TPP. We have increased PDS completions to around 12-15 a year and hope to see a growing number of TPPs moving forwards through this route.”
