Join CIHT Scotland and TPS Scotland as we explore the latest updates to Cycling by Design, Scotland's national cycle design guidance document, published in March 2026. Expert speakers will present key changes to the guidance and consider the wider challenges of delivering accessible, inclusive streets that support cycling as a viable mode of everyday transport.
Transport Scotland's Alan Oliver will outline the key updates in the 2026 revision. Robert Weetman will look at how research on continuous footways and bus stops (floating bus stops / bus-stop bypasses / etc) has influenced the evolution of the guidance, and on what work might still be needed more generally.
This will be followed by a panel discussion, where participants will reflect on progress made to date and what future work is needed. The panel will include the speakers, as well as:
To help shape the discussion and make it most useful for participants, attendees are encouraged to suggested any topics or themes they would like the panel to address in advance. Please share suggestions via the CIHT Scotland or TPS Scotland LinkedIn event post or email regions@ciht.org.uk (subject: Scotland Cycling Webinar) by Thursday 18 June.
