Transport Infrastructure Engineering looks at the options and processes involved in designing transport infrastructure systems that are safe and sustainable. This course develops the skills needed to design proposals whilst respecting physical, financial, environmental, social and time constraints and builds on your ability to present and critique solutions.
You will be required to investigate and develop proposals for the design of a transport infrastructure project from a range of possible transport modes including: Air, road, cycle, rail and mass transit systems.
This will require a combination of individual and group-working, with opportunities for formative feedback on your proposals via tutor and peer review.
What does it cover?
This module can be taken as a stand-alone CPD course, or used to build up credits towards a named postgraduate qualification (PG Certificate, PG Diploma or Masters) in Transport or Transport Engineering and Planning by completing the module assessment
There are no formal entry requirements for participants wishing to undertake this course as a stand-alone CPD course without the optional module assessment.
This module will involve 6 hours direct contact time per session, every other week, across one semester:
Starting Thursday 30 January 2020, 10am-5pm
then every other Thursday on: 13, 27 February; 12, 26 March; 09 April 2020
The course is expected to take 150 hours to complete: 36 hrs directed contact learning; 36 hrs independent study; 78 hrs assessment, including preparation.
