We are recruiting for an experienced Principal or Associate level Transport Planner to manage projects and lead teams focussed on supporting schemes through the planning process.  Location can be flexible.

About The Team:

The Transport Planning team is involved in some of the UK’s most high profile, complex and stimulating development projects that are diverse and technically demanding. We have an enviable reputation in the delivery of some of the UK’s and indeed the world’s most prestigious and challenging projects. Our current client portfolio includes Homes England, Oxford City Council, Transport for the West Midlands, Transport for London and national housebuilders, architects, planners, land promoters and property developers.  The range and scale of Arcadis also provides the Transport Planning team the opportunity to work on a diverse range of multi-disciplinary projects through other parts of the business, including Buildings, Environment, Manufacturing Technology and Local Government.

Within the Transport Planning team we provide a Development Planning service line focussed on supporting schemes through the planning process, from early site due diligence and scheme feasibility, through to preparation of supporting technical work for planning applications and discharge of planning conditions.  Our Development Planning service includes:

  • Site Due Diligence
  • Scheme Feasibility
  • Masterplanning Input and Advice
  • Planning Application support, including production of a range of technical documents, including Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Car Park Management Plans and Construction Logistics Plans
  • Environmental Statement support
  • Sustainable Travel inputs, including walking and cycling routes
  • Road Safety Audits
  • Public Consultation and Expert Witness
  • Development Control
  • Local Plan preparation and evidence base
  • Local operational modelling and access design 

Job Description

The Development Planning service line as part of our wider Transport Planning team operates across the UK, with a presence in the South East, Midlands, North West of England, as well as offices in Wales and Scotland.  We require an experienced Transport Planner (10 years + experience) to join this established and enthusiastic team to work on existing and upcoming projects. 

This is an exciting time to join a growing team, with significant opportunities for to work in parallel with the broader Arcadis placemaking offer, together with wide range of internal and external clients.

You should be experienced in the successful delivery and management of projects and teams, ideally in both the private and public sectors.  Educated to degree level or above, preferably in transport planning or traffic engineering.  We are seeking a motivated individual, confident at communicating and presenting to internal and external clients.

The successful individual should have a rounded skill set in development related transport assessment work, together with experience in public consultation, transport modelling, and report writing.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in transport planning, focussed on developments
  • Experience of working in large multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience managing projects and teams
  • Ability to coach and mentor staff
  • Ability to be first point of contact with clients
  • Able to produce quality bids
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills
  • Ability to deliver the production of support transport technical documents such as Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Environmental Statement inputs, Car Park Management Plans, Feasibility Studies.
  • Able to undertake all elements of a detailed Transport Assessment, including trip generation, distribution and assignment, construction of traffic flow spreadsheets and subsequent analysis, construction runs and analysis of operational junction models
  • Competent user of transport technical software and techniques, including TRICS, GIS, AutoCAD, Junctions 9 and Linsig
  • Excellent organisational skills
