Senior Consultant (Rail Modelling)

Job Description

We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join our growing Modelling and Appraisal team in our London office.

 

The successful candidate will join a growing and vibrant Transport Planning and Modelling team providing strong technical guidance whilst contributing to work-winning with both existing and new clients.

 

The Role:

 

The role will focus on developing demand, revenue and/or financial models, business cases, providing related advice, working on transportation projects for both public and private sector clients. With the support of the Modelling and Appraisal, Public Transport and Transport Planning teams in London and across the UK, you will play a key role in delivering/managing projects and supporting business development activities.

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Assisting with the technical delivery of transport modelling projects
  • Project management
  • Proposal management
  • Skill transfer to team members
  • Staff Mentoring
  • Client liaison and management
  • Identifying and effectively communicating client/project objectives
  • Model quality assurance for investment/transaction decisions
  • Preparation and delivery of technical reports and presentations

 

Experience

 

  • Data Analysis and Problem-Solving skills
  • Experience of the development and application of transport models
  • Rail demand forecasting using industry standards (PDFH and WebTAG)
  • Spreadsheet Modelling (following Modelling Best Practice Guidelines)
  • Analysing and reporting model results
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Knowledge of government transport policy and guidelines
  • Project Management
  • Proposal Writing
  • Working for private and public-sector clients
  • Quality Assurance

 

Other desirable skills and experiences

 

  • Operating Cost Modelling
  • Awareness of industry standard processes and databases (LENNON, NRPS, NTS, etc.)
