Job Description

Stretching from Winchester to Eastbourne, the South Downs National Park contains over 1,600km2 of some of England’s most iconic landscapes. With a population of over 2 million living in or within 5kms of the park boundary, increasing housing and developmental proposals, the pressures on the provision of transport infrastructure to enable and develop access, and preserving this unique environment can be challenging.

Representing the protected landscapes of the south east (2 National Parks and 5 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty within the Transport for South East (TFSE) area), the SDNPA has a place on the developing TfSE Sub National Transport Body where many of the investment decisions are being made. There are also a number of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIP) coming through the Road Investment Strategy 1 and 2, and a number of local schemes that have significant implications for the SDNP. 

To fully support and develop our influence in these forums and represent the needs of the SDNP and the wider protected areas of the SE, we are looking to recruit our own in-house transport experts. So, this post will work closely alongside our new Infrastructure Planning Lead to deliver the best outcomes for the National Park.
