Regionally, we operate through our northern offices in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Join us as a Transport Planner to provide support to the transportation planning capability in the North and North West.  The person will be based in the Manchester or Liverpool office and will contribute to the delivery of projects for our private sector clients. With more significant experience and capability candidates may be suitable for a Senior Transport Planner role.

You will have a good understanding of transport planning, and the versatility to apply your skills in development planning.  You will be expected to support the delivery of a wide range of projects to our private sector clients.

A typical week would include:

  • Transport assessments
  • statements and travel plans
  • Junction modelling and design.
  • You can expect to be involved on a number of projects at any given time, so the ability to manage competing priorities is essential.
  • You will have experience in leading your own project work at a task level, including monitoring performance against budgets and programme. Given our regional structure you will be flexible to working on projects across our northern offices.

About You

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Degree in relevant spatial or numerical subject, at Grade 2:1 or above;

The following skills are essential:

  • An understanding of transport project development processes;
  • Experience of the production and review of transport assessments and statements and travel plans.
  • Understanding of the Development Control process
  • Knowledge of transport guidance and current best practice (such as WebTAG)
  • Knowledge and application of traffic modelling (Junctions 8, Vissim, Paramics)
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills and excellent working knowledge of MS Office tools
  • Ability to produce high quality inputs into project reports, including technical documents;
  • Ability to communicate technical arguments to technical and non-technical colleagues.

The following skills/qualifications are desirable:

  • Working towards Chartered Engineer/TPP status;
  • Post-graduate degree in Transportation Planning or other relevant subject;
  • Experience of traffic engineering and modelling;
  • Competence in GIS techniques; and
  • Full and clean driving license.

If not already achieved, the candidate will be expected to work towards professional accreditation
