TfGM oversees transport in Greater Manchester, delivering and improving transport services, facilities and information to make travel easier for everyone. Our Strategy Directorate is seeking a driven and motivated individual to join our Modelling and Analysis team to support our decision making and scheme development activities for a diverse range of exciting projects. Our Modelling and Analysis team plays a vital role in providing analytical support, insights and business case evidence for the full range of TfGM projects, programmes and strategies. Working alongside transport planners of all disciplines, you will lead a small team of analysts and senior planners, collectively maintaining and developing our approach to transport appraisal, ensuring activity in support of investments is completed in a consistent and proportionate way and supports the production of high quality forecasts, analysis and business case evidence.

You will be experienced in conducting transport appraisals and value for money assessments and will possess the ability to think strategically about the bigger picture while maintaining a rigorous focus on the detail, ensuring that appraisal specification is focussed on key issues that drive value and always responds to the needs of decision makers. You will be at ease communicating complex economic and appraisal concepts and analysis to a diverse range of audiences.

In this role you will have the opportunity to make use of your skills and experience while simultaneously growing in the role. You will have a diverse workload that will include overseeing the creation of appraisal and value for money evidence for schemes both large and small in a devolved environment, delivering Metrolink patronage and revenue forecasts, supporting strategy development through the application of analytical tools and techniques to create a robust evidence base – and all the while, helping to expand individual and collective knowledge and capabilities within your team. In this regard, you will have opportunities to work with internationally renowned academics and experts as we seek to broaden our analytical capabilities, particularly in the areas of understanding future year uncertainty associated with disruptive technologies and incorporation of that understanding within our approach to analysis and appraisal.
