A Waterfront Conference seminar on Implementing the Infrastructure Planning Commission - Consulting on the Proposals is being held on the morning of 15th June at the offices of Bircham Dyson Bell in London.

The Planning Act 2008 transforms the planning regime for major projects aiming to provide a more efficient, transparent and accessible planning system. The Government is producing National Policy Statements for all sectors which will provide clarity on the need for infrastructure. Applications will be decided upon by a new independent body, the Infrastructure Planning Commission who will adopt a streamlined examination procedure.

The Government is now consulting on the regulations, guidance and content which applicants will be required to follow before submitting an application to the IPC. This seminar, held within the consultation period, provides a guide to the application procedure and gives the opportunity to discuss the workability of the proposals.

If you are planning a major project this seminar provides an essential guide to the application procedures and an opportunity to influence the formation of the regulations and guidance.

  • Hear how the new regime is being put in place
  • Learn how to prepare an application to the IPC
  • Find out how to incorporate Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and the Habitats Directive into the application process
  • Understand the requirements for public consultation
  • Assess the impact of the National Policy Statements on national spatial planning
  • Discuss how the proposed guidance will work in practice
