TPS is pleased to announce the launch Transport Planning Day 2024.
See all the current vacancies.
Open to all those studying or working in transport planning, or related fields, on a professional basis.
The Long Term Planning Process (LTPP) is designed to facilitate the strategic planning of the rail network in a way which is flexible enough to take into account the views of the rail industry, funders, specifiers and customers on the requirements to develop the network to meet future demand - the presentation will outline the ways it has changed from the Route Utilisation Strategy process and how the LTPP is being taken forward to plan the future of the rail network.
The Northern Hub is a significant investment plan to imprve rail travel and stimulate economic growth in the North. Changes to the rail network will mean faster and more frequent services across the area and a new section of track in the vicinity of Ordsall will provide a direct link between Manchester Victoria and Piccadilly stations. The Northern Hub will boost the region's economy by over £4bn and potentially create 20,000 to 30,000 new jobs.
Electrification of key rail routes in the North West is critical in delivering a reliable and sustainable railway and will make journeys faster and quieter. The investment in electrification will enhance approximately 300km of some of Britain's busiest rail track and, in conjunction with the Northern Hub, will enable more trains with additional seats to run in this area.
CPD certificates for TPS members will be available.
