The Conference is unique in Europe, attracting over 500 transport practitioners and researchers to a meeting place, where they can find in-depth presentations on policy issues, best practice and research findings across a broad spectrum of transport modes.  The unique feature of the European Transport Conference is its multi-seminar approach. The structure of the Conference embraces a balance of practice and research.

Between 5 and 7 October 2009 the European Transport Conference will be held at the Leeuwenhorst Conference Centre near Leiden. 

ETC is the international networking event for transport professionals and there are many opportunities to meet with new and old colleagues, and to create new contacts. 

Themes for this year’s conference are:

• Managing the demand for road space
• Financing local transport initiatives
• Achieving quality public transport
• Producing safer transport infrastructure
• Case studies of delivering improved access and mobility in towns and cities
