Kate Morris starts role as Head of Transport Planning at Leeds City Council

Kate Morris, current Company Secretary, has recently joined Leeds City Council as their Head of Transport Planning. After 30 years in the private sector, most recently leading Strategic Planning and Advisory EMEA at AECOM, she has returned to the public sector where her career started as a graduate engineer at Kent County Council.

Kate said ‘I am looking forward to applying my transport planning knowledge and experience to help deliver Leeds’ ambitious targets around climate change, sustainable growth and health and well-being. This is an exciting time for our profession and transport will play a key role in delivering Leeds’ target to be carbon neutral by 2030.

This role just emphasises the importance of our profession in the day to day operation of a city – with activities in my first week ranging from approving permits for street cafes through to a site visit to view the construction of our new 1200 vehicle Park and Ride site at Stourton.

This role will also enable me to represent the views and requirements of our public sector membership in my role on the Board. This is a sector of our industry currently under represented so please reach out if there is anything you would like to discuss further.'
