TPS New Years Drinks 2019

Thrills, spills and planning blight: 30 years disrupting transport planning

In early 2018 Stephen Joseph stepped down as Chief Executive after 30 years at the helm of the Campaign for Better Transport. The Transport Planning Society has invited Stephen to recall the highs and lows of campaigning through several eras of UK transport planning history. Stephen was a member of the Standing Advisory Committee on Trunk Road Assessment (SACTRA), an external adviser on the Transport White Paper in the Prescott era, and both campaigner and adviser through the subsequent dismantling of the sustainable transport and land use planning consensus. Stephen will reflect on these three decades of transport policy-making and the lessons we draw for the future of transport planning.

Join TPS for what promises to be a fascinating discussion and to toast the society into 2019, a year in which we want to build on the recent Transport Planning Day success in promoting the profession more widely.
