SYSTRA Ltd currently have an opportunity for a Senior Consultant to join their well-established Social and Market Research (SMR) team in their head office in Woking, Surrey. SYSTRA provides social and market research services, transport planning consultancy, and rail/urban transport engineering services. With ambitious growth plans, this is an exciting time to join SYSTRA as they continue to develop and raise their profile in the UK.
The SMR team specialises in research for the transport industry, undertaking quantitative and qualitative studies for Government Departments and their agencies, Local Authorities, Transport Executives and Transport Operators. We undertake transport research in the areas of customer experience, environment and sustainability, revenue and ticketing and public policy, using a range of traditional survey techniques as well as large scale public/stakeholder consultations and more complex quantitative techniques such as Stated Preference (conjoint) design. We work across all transport modes, including road, walking and cycling, bus and train, through to aeroplane and boat.
In addition to our work in the transport industry, we often undertake research for utility companies and their governing bodies and, on occasion, work in the areas of health, crime and social inclusion.
We are looking for a junior project manager ready to take the next step up in their career. The successful candidate will have:
Previous experience working in social and/or market research
Strong quantitative skills, with first-hand experience of undertaking data analysis
Strong SPSS skills, including writing syntax
Experience managing social and/or market research projects, preferably within a research agency setting
Experience in a client-facing role
Experience writing proposals for new work, including devising appropriate methodologies, identifying risks, and considering resourcing and costs
Strong communication skills (being fluent in English, both written and spoken)
The ability to build strong relationships to enhance the business relationship
The ability to be diplomatic when dealing with clients and project staff
You will hold a relevant degree, preferably in a quantitative subject (or equivalent)
Enjoy working as part of a team
Be flexible to meet project demands
The successful candidate will be:
Expected to get involved in all elements of social and market research activities
Responsible for managing research projects from start to finish, to time, budget and quality
Required to undertake primary research, including survey design, analysis and reporting
Required to contribute to proposal writing
Comfortable mentoring/training more junior team members
