Senior Transport Planner

Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Transport Planner to work in our Leicester office to assist with an expanding workload in our busy Transport discipline. We work for both private and public sector Clients engaged in a wide selection of projects.

Your Role

You will be a critical part of a very busy commercially focussed team which has an expanding workload. You will be providing a support role for senior staff and preparing drawings and reports. Additionally, you will be assisting with bid preparation and fee proposals. You will interface with clients and other professionals, as well as assist with site visits, occasional traffic surveys and undertake research on transport/highway issues. You will have regular contact with Architects, Town Planners and Local Authority Officers.

About You

You must demonstrate a proven track record in some or all of the below fields:

  • Transport Assessments and Travel Plans for new land-use developments
  • Master planning and urban regeneration projects
  • Public transport and highway scheme design and appraisal
  • Multi-modal transport modelling and economic assessments
  • Intelligent Transport Schemes such as AVL, RTPI and SMART Ticketing
  • Junction assessment and design
  • Traffic signal management using SCOOT, MOVA and UTC
  • Road safety studies
  • Traffic management studies
  • Bus priority measures
  • Bus interchange design
  • Pedestrian and cycling studies
  • Policy and strategy development including Local Transport Plans
  • Consultation and Public Inquiries

You will have a good working knowledge of junction and/or network modelling software, including ARCADY, PICADY, LINSIG, TRANSYT, SATURN, VISSIM, VISUM, PARAMICS, GIS and AutoCAD. Experience in traffic signals and intelligent transport systems would be particularly beneficial.  You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
