Job Description

Atkins is looking for a Senior Requirements Engineer to join the Transportation Systems Engineering team; helping us to deliver rail projects of varying scale; as well as collaborate across Atkins to help expand our services to the wider Transportation and Intelligent Mobility industry. You will be based in our central London office, with other locations considered for extraordinary candidates. Formal flexible or part time working will be considered for this role if desired.

As a Senior Requirements Engineer with Atkins, you will work on projects ranging from bespoke analysis through to major infrastructure delivery projects, with key Clients including NR, TfL and TOCs. We take a flexible approach to working, delivering as teams, and collaborating with both Clients and the wider Atkins. We are a lively and friendly team who support each other to develop professionally and take opportunities to socialise together too. 

As a Senior Requirements Engineer you will:

  • Collaborate with Clients and their Stakeholders to ensure that their needs are understood and shape our services in response.
  • Think critically, define and solve problems, challenge decisions and facilitate our Client’s thinking.
  • Technically lead the delivery of projects within the team and support the technical governance of other projects.
  • Work across the business to align process, share knowledge and drive innovation.
  • Take a leading role in developing and mentoring other staff, sharing knowledge across the team.
  • Continuously develop your skills and competence to achieve or maintain professional qualification.
  • Have opportunities to develop skills/work in wider Systems Engineering, Assurance and Project, Technical and People Management. Opportunities to work internationally may also arise.

We are looking for systematic thinkers with a good and demonstrable understanding of Requirements Management and V&V within the railway industry. Exceptional experience within other industries will also be considered. You should understand the key applicable industry standards and have experience within most of the key areas of:

  • Developing Requirements Management and V&V Strategies and Plans, including the integration of processes within large, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Requirements authoring, derivation, traceability and management.
  • Managing the development of rigorous Verification and Validation (V&V).
  • Developing and delivering approaches to independent audit and assessment of Requirements Management and V&V.
