About the Role:

Our Transport Teams undertake a full range of planning work including policy and strategy development, modelling and scheme feasibility and assessment, and business case development.Our projects range from small-scale local transport improvements to major road network, rail and sustainable travel schemes. We provide advice to private sector and local authority clients on access and transportation issues and support development proposals through the planning process. The team works closely with our Transport and Infrastructure, Services, Structures and Environmental teams on larger multi-disciplinary development proposals. Regionally we operate as a wider team covering offices from as far east as Guildford and as far west as Exeter, providing opportunities to work both within and outside of Wales. From time to time opportunities also arise to work in other parts of the UK and beyond.

A typical week would include:

  • Strong emphasis on supporting project delivery.
  • To provide support to the South West & Wales Senior Management team, specifically to capitalise on existing/emerging client relationships, framework commissions and evolving regional governance structures.
  • It is envisaged that the role would be primarily public sector, but will respond flexibly to the opportunities presented by devolution, Growth Deals and be supportive of major private sector regeneration opportunities.
  • To strengthen and broaden our technical offering.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • BSc or BA (minimum 2:1) in a relevant subject such as economics, geography, business studies, mathematics, engineering, politics etc, (Masters qualification is desirable)
  • At least one years’ experience in the transport planning profession
  • Good knowledge of UK and ideally Wales transport legislation, policy and guidance
  • Takes initiative for self-development and remains calm under pressure
  • Keeps others informed of issues in a timely manner and asks questions when they are uncertain
  • Able to manage own time effectively
  • Able to analyse technical data with attention to detail
  • Understands the importance of safety, health and environmental issues
  • Ability to work productively as part of a team
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Proficient with standard software packages including MS Excel and Word
