Job Description

The Preston, South Ribble and Lancashire City Deal represents the largest coordinated investment in highway and transport infrastructure in Lancashire for forty years.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with an ambition to join the City Deal Delivery Team and work on the delivery of high-profile highways and transport infrastructure schemes in Central Lancashire.

This position presents and excellent opportunity to progress your career and work within a successful multidisciplinary team.

Activities will comprise:

•Analysis of big data and traffic forecasts at strategic and microsimulation network modelling levels (i.e. SATURN, CUBE, Aimsun, VISSIM);
•Junction capacity appraisal using traffic modelling tools (i.e. LinSig, Junctions 9);
•Identification of complex design solutions outlining critical capacity requirements and preparation of highways scheme concept designs;
•Working with, and providing technical support to, highway engineers in the development of scheme designs;
•Involvement in the submission of planning applications;
•Monitoring and evaluation of major highway schemes;
•Development of public transport and local centre enhancement schemes;
•Production of technical notes and project reports; and
•Attendance at public consultation events, meetings with local councillors and stakeholder engagement.

Skills and Experience

An ability to learn quickly and be versatile and adapt to the wide ranging challenges and opportunities of the role is essential.

An understanding of UK Government transport planning policies and guidance, including WebTAG and DMRB.

You will have strong numeracy and communication skills together with an excellent working knowledge of MS Office tools, particularly Excel, and bespoke Transport Planning software packages.
AutoCAD experience and an appreciation of relevant design principles is therefore advantageous.
