Job Description

SYSTRA is a forward-looking rail engineering and transport planning consultancy with offices across UK and Ireland. We deliver high quality, sustainable transport solutions for our clients in the public and private sectors. 

Our Transport Planning team is seeking an Associate to join our growing Reading office.

This role would suit an individual who has proven experience in the technical delivery and management of projects in excess of £250k and who is looking for the next step in their career. Based in our Thames Valley office and working closely with SYSTRA’s Transport Planning Sector Director you will play a key role in winning work, developing and growing our Transport Planning offer in London,  the South West and the Thames Valley. You will help to deliver a wide range of project work for public sector clients as well as support our established Development Planning team in the Thames Valley. Key projects include; Access Fund delivery, London Borough sustainable travel support and overseeing travel plan/engagement programmes across the South. 

Skills / experience required for the role include: 

  • Transport policy and strategy
  • Sustainable travel
  • Public consultation
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Monitoring and evaluation
  • Project management including client liaison, financial control
  • Team management and mentoring
  • Business development

To be considered for this role, you should be degree qualified in a relevant subject (or equivalent) and hold membership of a professional body such as the IHT, TPS or CILT.  A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area would be advantageous but is not essential. You should be able to provide evidence of your experience in the technical delivery and management of large Transport Planning projects.  You should have previous experience of business development and growing teams as well as experience of line management / mentoring.  Previous experience in  a multi-cultural environment would be ideal, but is not essential.
