Transport Manager (Maternity Cover)

Job Description

The University of Cambridge is seeking a knowledgeable and committed individual to join the University's Environment and Energy Section as the Transport Manager to cover maternity leave for a period of up to one year.

This Section is responsible for developing and implementing long-term plans to improve the University's performance across a wide range of areas of environmental sustainability, including carbon emissions, energy use, transport, waste, water, sustainable construction and sustainable procurement.

The role holder reports to the Head of Environment and Energy and undertakes work in a range of areas to develop and implement the University's Transport Strategy and North West Cambridge Development (NWCD) Framework Travel Plan. Key elements of the role include :

- The development of the University's transport strategy to provide practical solutions to travel to work and at work for the University's staff, students and visitors

- The development of transport policies, procedures and initiatives across the University estate to encourage a more sustainable approach to travel.

- Management of the Universal bus contract and other contracts with car club operators and bicycle maintenance contractors

- Delivery  of a wide range of communication and engagement initiatives across the University and the NWCD

Ideally, you will have a degree and experience of managing sustainable transport projects is essential, along with the confidence to encourage and influence a wide and varied audience.

Maternity cover: This post is fixed-term for 12 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier.
