Job Description

Sustrans, the charity that’s enabling people to travel by foot, bike or public transport for more of the journeys we make every day, is seeking to fill the following key vacancy:

Route Manager, London

£28,098 - £31,375 per annum (Ref:  SUS1985)

(depending on relevant skills and experience)

(inclusive of a London Weighting allowance of £3,299pa)

2 vacancies – 37.5 hours per week – 1 permanent contract, 1 maternity cover

based in Farringdon

As a Route Manager in this varied role you will lead on the project management of the delivery of routes from initial feasibility work through to managing the delivery of infrastructure schemes.  By leading and coordinating a team of specialists working on the routes, you will also be involved in managing and developing relationships with a variety of different external partners.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have knowledge and involvement in project management and implementation as well a background in any one or more of the following disciplines:  land negotiation, land use and/or transport planning, civil engineering, traffic engineering, structural engineering or contract management.   Previous experience of working in communities and in partnership with other organisations will have developed your ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.  With IT literacy, you will have excellent written and verbal communications skills as well as the ability to be able to work with minimal supervision. You will also be committed to the promotion of sustainable transport.
