CIHT North East and Cumbria and the Transport Planning Society are pleased to announce the launch in the region of their technical seminar series ‘An Introduction To…’

Aimed at those wishing to achieve TPP, CEng, IEng or EngTech qualifications or following the TPS Professional Development Scheme, this series has been created with the assistance of reviewers within both CIHT and TPS. It is accredited CPD time, and offers an overview of all the core competencies you require an “Awareness” of.

Events will run every month and be repeated annually to allow members to tailor the sessions to suit their own requirements, interests and commitments. The presenters have all been handpicked for their expertise in their subject, and will be available after each session for further questions and to assist members with their pursuits.

Due to the likely popularity of the series, booking for each session is essential. To register and confirm your attendance to each session please see the Eventbrite page.

Transport for the North, with its Partners, is developing a Strategic Transport Plan and accompanying long term Investment Programme, so that people and businesses can see a firm commitment to create a stronger, more diverse and resilient economy. The Strategic Transport Plan is due for launch in January 2018, alongside the establishment of TfN as a Sub-national Transport Body.

When adopted, the Strategic Transport Plan will be TfN’s principal policy document and the plan of the statutory body. The Strategic Transport Plan, and its supporting evidence, will inform how HM Government, Network Rail, Highways England and High Speed Two (HS2) Ltd can work with Partners in the North to deliver investment that can transform the economy.

We are pleased welcome Jonathan Spruce, Interim Strategy Director for TfN, immediately following the launch of the STP. Jonathan will introduce TfN, their background and their role in the delivery of an integrated transport system for the future.

All sessions are FREE to CIHT and TPS members. If you are not a member of either institution, please contact us to request attendance before booking a ticket.
